My thoughts on the Hague trade

So here’s the thing. I’ve been a Nashville Preds fan my whole damn life, through the heartbreaks, the rebuilds, the almosts, and the “what the hell was that” seasons. And this past year? That was a low. Not the rock-bottom, light-a-cigarette-in-the-shower kind of low, but close.

We had a draft that felt more “meh” than meaningful. And now this? Trading Jeremy, one of our few dependable blue liners, and Sissons, who I genuinely thought was gonna grow old in gold, for Nicholas Hague? Then giving Hague four years at $5.5 million per? I don’t know, man. Feels like handing a Cartier watch to a guy who still asks what time it is every five minutes.

Look, I’m not saying I could run this franchise better than Barry… but I am saying I could at least fake it with more swagger. We’ve got cap space, we’ve got needs, and we go out and do… this? Bold strategy, Cotton.

I’m not excited for the season. I’m not even pretending to be. But if the hockey gods are feeling cheeky and we get a repeat of last year’s chaotic little miracle run of a top 5 pick? I’ll take it. Strap in, boys. Gavin McKenna sweepstakes, here we come.
